Last night, Barry Bonds hit his 756th career home run to pass Hank Aaron as the all-time leader…about 45 seconds later, half the baseball fans in the world lost their collective minds. People are actually outraged because he’s finally done it. Now, I’m far from a Barry Bonds fan, and not because I think he’s a cheater, but because he plays for the Giants. That’s all. With that said, I think it’s a good thing that he’s done it. I’m not gonna jump on the “Let’s shit on Barry” bandwagon, because everyone is trying to get him to take the fall for something that’s larger than him. Oh yes, this shit is bigger than Nino Brown. The powers that be in Major League Baseball knew exactly what was going on with the players and the supplements that a lot of them were taking, and NOW they want to try and seperate themselves from it. That’s one of a couple reasons I’m not gonna get into the whole asterisk business. If you give Barry one, I want to see one next to Mark McGwire’s, Sammy Sosa’s, Rafael Palmeiro’s and everybody’s golden boy, Roger Clemens’ records too. But that’s another blog for another day. For right now, I applaud Barry Bonds and his linestepping ass.
